BEST HAIR COLOR RESULTS BEVERLY HILLS

I’ve recently been blogging about what gives you the best hair color results  whether you live in a major fashion center like Beverly Hills or a smaller city or town.  We may not all want to live in larger cities, but who doesn’t want to look his or her best?  So last blog I spoke about knowledge of product, and how colorists are not only familiar with the new products, but train to work on them.  And the best colorists test each and every hair color line – color by color, so that they know from first-hand experience how these color lines perform, BEFORE they do a person’s entire head.   I know because before my own colorist, Cal Martini, used a brand new color line on my head – a color line he has been familiar with from the first stages of development, – he tested it out on a tiny hidden lock of my hair, making sure it was a perfect match to the color he had been using previously..

So knowing what products are even out there and which ones are the best is the kind of knowledge you can depend upon your hair colorist to know.  Staying up on the most cutting edge products is their job.  And finally, knowing exactly how these products perform, so they can use them to your best advantage, is also their job.

So what are the products out there?  Scan the boxes in your drugstore and you see a lot of the same brands – L’Oreal, Revlon, Garnier, Wella with multiple kinds of product.  If you go to the beauty supply store you will see these same brands, but not as packaged at-home dyes. These are the professional lines that these brands offer.  Hair color crèmes are in tubes, and the thinner dyes are in small twist-top bottles, for multiple uses.  You mix them with whatever volume of developer you need (more on that later – choosing the right volume of developer is practically it’s own blog!) and apply.  But you are still not seeing the best brands for the best hair color results.

If you go to a professional beauty supply store, the kind that requires you have a license as a beautician/stylist/color professional, you will see some additional brands like Schwarzkopf, Elgon, Matrix, Redken and Goldwell.  Now we are getting somewhere.  These are brands with a difference – the colors are rich, they stay put, and they offer a huge range of color variation, so you have a much better chance at finding the right color for you.   Joico and Goldwell in particular have been the gold standard in professional hair color for many years.  And yet not all salons include those two brands. Why? Because these hair color lines are more expensive.   They are also a significantly better product, giving you significantly better hair color results.

Beth Minardi Signature ShadesUntil now, I would have told you to make sure your salon carries one of those two color lines, because the brand of color matters so much in the outcome of any color process.  But there is a new kid in town.  Not new to the hair color industry, just a brand new, cutting edge hair color line.  A line of hair color that is truly revolutionary.    Created by a colorist who has been working on the most beautiful heads in the world and with leading manufactures of hair color.

It is the only hair color line that exists that fades on color.  Meaning that if does not fade and turn greenish or orangey or a hard (and fake) looking gold.  It fades true to the color you chose.  So when you refresh your color you are doing it because it has re-growth and slightly faded, not because it is looking weird and you need to refresh so that people don’t suspect you color your hair.

And what is this amazing new cutting-edge color line?

The one that Cal Martini tested on one lock of my hair to make sure it was a perfect match to the Joico color he has always used? Check out my next blog!
